An incredible thing happened during the Folk Art Walking Stick show at the Columbus Museum of Art last year. John Habela, who had recently moved to Columbus, was asked to bring some of his carved sticks to a lecture by curator Michael Hall. I knew on the spot that I wanted to exhibit them, even before I saw his wonderfully obsessive drawings.                                                                                                                                           In his own words:     “Dreamsticks, as I like to call them, are like magical advertising systems, offering protection from evil. They can be both psychological and physical weapons, keeping you balanced and fending off foes.                                                                                                                                                                                             I like to refer to my drawings as "psycho renderings". They come from deep within and are an obsession of mine. If I did not draw them, I wonder what mayhem might occur".
