Ricky Barnes is a self taught artist working in a folk art tradition. His process begins with sourcing materials from flea markets and beyond – salvaging maple and cherry wood from unpopular styles of vintage & antique furniture, enamel and spray paints previously destined for the land fill, old nails and scraps of metal that he fashions into hardware. Ricky is as inventive in his process as he is with his subject matter; dreaming up and creating new tools to further his practice and operating with a resourcefulness that is seemingly second nature.
