With degrees in both art and biology, it’s no surprise that Columbus artist Woody Blackwell is drawn to sculpting nature’s creatures. Using reclaimed and recycled materials, he puts good use to items such as flattened bottle caps, galvanized sheet steel, vintage advertising tins and nails – lots and lots of nails. The result is a decidedly modern sculpture that is fused with the patina of age.
Blackwell has been making art more or less full-time since 1994 but feels he’s just getting started.
